What is a Do Not Resuscitate Order?

A do not resuscitate (DNR) order is very similar to a living will, with the distinction being that it is intended for emergency responders, such as the crew of an ambulance, rather than for doctors in a hospital setting.

The DNR is kept in the home of a person who has a history of infirmity, usually posted on the refrigerator or where a family member would know where to find it, and is provided to first responders before they take any action prohibited by your wishes.
